The Fayette County Road Department has a busy season ahead for 2020
and we have designed this page to keep you up to date on the road
closures, detours and 'what's ahead' for this season.

|Alpha - Johnsons Mill Road
|Mathy's Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) overlays are
completed but finishing work of driveway and
side road construction is ongoing.
ROADS are still considered CLOSED!
|Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Overlay consisting of three
layers of 2" new HMA was completed. Driveway
extensions will begin soon,
|Now that CIP operations are complete, Mathy Construction has been working on the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA)
throughout the county. Paved driveway extensions and gravel road pave back extensions will begin soon in the
Oelwein area followed by paint stripping. The county will finish shouldering at a later date.
Please note the updates below.
Please keep in mind that the roads are considered closed and that there can be construction equipment
on the road at any point and time. We are asking NO HEAVY WEIGHT vehicles on the new CIP please.
Elgin Area - Mathy began MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2020 on the southern portion of
W51 (shouldering). see map below
The Canoe Road to the north of Elgin (going towards Clermont) will be COMPLETELY CLOSED Tuesday,
August 4th and Wednesday, August 5th.
Again this portion will be COMPLETELY CLOSED!!
Anticipated Near Term Schedule is the contractors best estimate of work within the next 2 weeks dependent on weather, breakdown,
supply impacts, and COVID-19. Each of these can impact the schedule.)

HMA Overlay Operations consisting of 1" HMA
Interlayer and 2" new HMA. HMA Interlay
|HMA Overlay consisting of two layers of 2"
new HMA is ongoing.was completed! We
ask that you not travel on the road if
possible and NO HEAVY TRUCKS
Road will be closed and the designated
detour is signed. We ask that you
please use the detour route as it has
dust control applied.
|HMA Overlay is ongoing from W14 south
of town and into St Lucas. See pictures
below - it looks amazing!
|Milling was completed. Next step will be
HMA Overlay consisting of 1" layer of HMA
Interlayer followed by a 2" layer
of new HMA.
|Please note that larger closed signs
have been placed at the bridge south of
190th St to slow the traffic going over
the bridge. Keep in mind that the road
is considered closed because of the
Cold-In-Place Recycling Operation Work
Finished June 16, 2020.
HMA Overlay consisting of two layers of
2" new HMA will be next.

after all CIP locations are completed.

Monday, August 3rd on W51
south of Elgin.
Canoe Rd north of Elgin will be
COMPLETELY CLOSED on Tuesday,
August 4th and possible on
Wednesday, August 5th to complete
the HMA work.
